Telemedicine Services

What is telemedicine?

Telemedicine (also known as two-way video conferencing) is a wonderful tool that allows a patient to see and speak with a physician without the inconvenience or expense of traveling to see them. WAHA has been a leader in using this technology through the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN). The telemedicine service significantly decreases wait times for patients and provides better access to specialists.

Benefits of telemedicine

The telemedicine service significantly decreases wait times for patients and provides better access to specialists.

Currently, WAHA can provide patients with access to: surgeons, gynecologists, dermatologists, psychiatrists, allergists and other specialists without physically having to leave the region.

This service is also used for emergency situations in the coastal region as well ashealth education and family visits.

Telemedicine does not replace face-to-face visits with a doctor, rather this service provides supplementary care to patients when an in-person visit is not possible or required. Appointments for this service are made through a physician.
