Chief of Staff – WAHA

The Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is the leading health care provider organization on the western coast of James Bay. WAHA is comprised of hospitals in Moose Factory, Fort Albany and Attawapiskat with a Health Centre in Moosonee. WAHA also provides regional outpatient programs and Paramedicine and Mental Health services in the region, including services in Kashechewan and Peawanuck. The span of services, complexity of care needs in the region and the depth of health integration has made WAHA a leader and a model of health care services in Northern Ontario. WAHA consists of a team of full time physicians, 450 employees, many learners and community stakeholders. The Weeneebayko Area Health Authority is seeking an experienced, progressive leader for the key role of Chief of Staff. Reporting to the Board of Directors, you will lead the team of dedicated full time, part time and locum physicians, surgeons and anaesthetists. You will lead the recruitment and retention programs for the physician group; be responsible for Quality Assurance for Physician Services and chair the Medical Advisory Committee. As an active member of the senior leadership team, you will contribute to the organization’s programs and services across all locations.

As Chief of Staff, you will hold a valid licence to practice and be registered with the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons and have leadership experience in a medical capacity. You are a strong communicator and proven change agent with demonstrated abilities to both work with and lead a team. You will be willing to relocate to Moose Factory, Ontario to provide the leadership and mentorship required on site in support of your fellow Physician group. You will also provide some clinical services in the region.

This is a contract position. Remuneration is very competitive and there are generous leave provisions. Moving expenses, housing and travel allowance are also provided. This position is eligible for the Ontario Northern Recruitment and Retention Initiative.
