Patient Values

The Ontario’s government’s Excellent Care for All Act requires all hospitals to have a Patient Declaration of Values. Our Patient Values statement was created with help from patients, community members, and WAHA staff.

We are committed to:

  • providing the best possible quality care free of prejudice, harassment or abuse
  • training staff so that they are capable of providing culturally safe and competent services
  • providing up-to-date and current health information
  • arranging for appropriate Cree translation services while in our care
  • protecting your personal health information so it remains confidential and private
  • encouraging family involvement in your care
  • ensuring access to pastoral care services
  • helping you traditional healing programs
  • being professional and courteous
  • providing care in a safe and clean environment

As a patient, you have the responsibility to:

  • respect hospital staff, other patients and visitors
  • be respectful of hospital property
  • ask questions about your care
  • accept responsibility for the choices and decisions you make about your care
  • inform us if you are not pleased with your care
  • give accurate information to help plan your care
