Contact information

People in the WAHA region who require emergency medical services are encouraged to visit their local health care location, or call the emergency numbers above.

Emergency Room

The emergency rooms in each of the six WAHA communities are open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day and are staffed with qualified medical personnel for any medical emergency that might arise. They provide comprehensive services treating people who require urgent care.

Coordination of care

Every effort is made to keep patients in their community where the same service and care can be provided. When the medical staff in each community deems necessary, they call or use WAHA’s telemedicine services to consult with an emergency doctor to assess whether the patient needs to be transported to Weeneebayko General Hospital (WGH) or to a southern hospital such as Timmins District Hospital (TDH), or Kingston General Hospital (KGH).

Integrated care

Emergency rooms rely on lab testing services, electronic x-rays as well as other tests and consultations with specialists as needed to determine a diagnosis and identify immediate treatment options.
