Ontario is now open for Step 3

Effective this morning, Ontario has entered into the final stage of its COVID-19 economic reopening plan.

In Step 3: There is expanding access to indoor settings, with restrictions, including where there are larger numbers of people and where face coverings can’t always be worn.

For the first time in months, indoor dining, gyms, cinemas, nightclubs and other venues will be able to reopen to the public. There will still be capacity limits at nearly all businesses, and masks will still be required.

Social gatherings of up to 25 people indoors and 100 people outdoors are now permitted.

  • In Step 3: There are approximately 70 to 80% of adults vaccinated with one dose and 25% vaccinated with two doses

The province will remain in Step Three for at least 21 days and until 80% of the eligible population aged 12 and over has received one dose of a COVID-19covid 19 vaccine, and 75% have received their second, with no public health unit having less than 70% of their eligible population aged 12 and over fully vaccinated.

Other key public health and health care indicators must also continue to remain stable. Upon meeting these thresholds, the vast majority of public health and workplace safety measures will be lifted.
