To our community members:
Please be advised that our four emergency departments, Weeneebayko General Hospital in Moose Factory, Moosonee Health Centre, the Fort Albany Hospital, and the Attawapiskat Hospital, are currently experiencing a significant increase in patients with respiratory illnesses, causing longer than normal wait times.
We kindly ask that you avoid public gatherings if feeling unwell. Please wear a mask and wash your hands frequently if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms:
- Cough
- Fever
- Sore throat
- Runny nose
- Shortness of breath
- Muscle aches
- Fatigue,
- Vomiting/diarrhea
- Abdominal pain
To be seen by a practitioner for non-urgent care in Moosonee, Fort Albany, and Attawapiskat, please visit your Health Centre/Hospital and let the front desk know you’d like to be seen in the Virtual Clinic, and a nurse will assess you.
The Virtual Clinic is open from Monday through Friday from 9 am to 10 pm, and Saturdays from noon to 8 pm.
To schedule a non-urgent medical appointment at Weeneebayko General Hospital, please continue to schedule through the Family Medicine Clinic by calling 705-658-4031.
For assistance from Telehealth Ontario, dial 811.
We ask that you remain respectful towards the staff during this time. Understand that our emergency departments are not clinics. All patients are triaged by expert nurses based on symptoms, vital signs, and acuity of the situation. Please expect longer wait times and know that our providers are doing everything they can to care for our communities.
