“Our government is taking action to connect people and families across Ontario to the care they need, when they need it, no matter where they live. Today’s important milestone in Weeneebayko Area Health Authority’s redevelopment marks an important step forward in ensuring those living in the Western James Bay and Hudson Bay Coast areas can access high-quality care, in their community, for years to come.”
Sylvia Jones, Ontario’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Health
“We are proud to partner with WAHA, Pomerleau Healthcare Partners and the provincial and federal governments on the construction of this facility, which modernizes and transforms healthcare for all communities in the western Hudson and James Bay region. We are deeply indebted to the WAHA team and the local community and Indigenous partners who have thoughtfully advanced the design of the facility over the past eighteen months. This milestone for the WAHA Redevelopment Project marks the close of the development phase for our first progressive DBF project – a new contract model pioneered by Ontario to get critical infrastructure built.”
Michael Lindsay, President and CEO, Infrastructure Ontario
“Awarding the contract is a major step forward for the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority Redevelopment Project that will provide culturally sensitive care close to home for people in the region. As part of our plan to build Ontario, our government is making historic investments in the province’s hospital infrastructure to strengthen communities and ensure that everyone can access the care they need.”
