It is with regret that as of August 13, 2018, WAHA needs to temporarily close our OBS labour and delivery services due to a physician shortage at WAHA. We apologize for the impact on service delivery and hope that this transition will not be long. This has not been an easy decision but is the best option for patient safety at this time.
There is a structured plan in place at each of the Heath Care Centres, in consultation with Obstetricians at Timmins District Hospital, to safely manage the care of all obstetrical patients through their pregnancy and confinement period.
WAHA is actively working with Health Force Ontario, the Ministry of Health and the Northeast Local Health Integrated Network to establish an active recruitment plan for physicians. Once the physician situation improves, we will reopen. We hope this transition will not be long and again we apologize for the inconvenience.
If you have any questions about the process please call your health care provider at your facility.
Thank you
Caroline Lidstone-Jones, Acting CEO
