New Regional Health Campus and Acute Care Project expands

Dear Future Neighbours,

The Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) has been serving the Moosonee and Moose Factory communities for the past 70 years out of the Weeneebayko General Hospital in Moose Factory. We have been working hard in that time to secure location and funding to build a new permanent facility. It’s been a long time coming but we are getting closer.

In the next few days we are going to be taking possession of the land – so generously donated by the Town of Moosonee. We will begin some site testing and other preparation work. This work is being done in anticipation of an announcement in the near future.

We wanted to let our neighbours know as you can expect to see more traffic in the area and activity at the sites in Moosonee and Moose Factory. Work will be done during the day as to not disturb your evenings.
This new regional health campus and acute care Project will allow WAHA to expand our health promotion and capacity building programs, better accommodate our primary health care services, and be the anchor for the future of Moosonee and Moose Factory. All of this will benefit the local community by making services easier to access and more comprehensive.

Thank you for your patience as we move this Project forward. I look forward to sharing more details about this Project and the process with you once this Project is announced. We will let you know when that will be happening but, in the meantime, and throughout the process, please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns.
